Why do I have a standard chartered bank account? Who the bank epp, you may think?
Why You Should Have a Standard Chartered Bank Account
Few months ago, for a certain period of time, Standard chartered Nigeria was giving 3000 naira to whoever opened a new account with them. What you had to do to get the money? Just deposit 200 naira and wait 3 working days. Within 2, you were credited.
Then, the strategy was to try to encourage people to create bank accounts. Now they have come up with a new strategy which is aimed at encouraging users to encourage their friends and family to themselves create standard chartered bank accounts. How do I mean? Yesterday, I received an email from standard chartered bank. The summary is as follows:
Standard chartered bank is giving out 2000 naira for each validated person that you bring in to create an account with them. What is involved?
After this is done and you’re sure that the person you refer has done both, within at most 7 working days, you will get the 2000 naira credited to your standard chartered bank account. Easy peasy. The person can also get his/her own code and refer other people.
To participate in this 'giveaway', it is essential that you have a standard chartered bank account. If you have created a bank account online before, you should have an idea of what you would do.
You will be asked for personal details, which you must fill correctly, no lies, because these banks are legal financial institutions and you probably could be arrested for false information. You will also be required to fill in your BVN (financial institutionss require this to authenticate customers), maybe take a photo, and take a picture of your legal document: international passport, driver’s license or any one of similar things. The whole registration process took me about 40 minutes back then so it’s not something you can just rush over. Do it only at your free time otherwise, you may not complete the registration and thus, will not be qualified.
Download the app here Make sure that the app you’re downloading is the Nigerian bank app as there is an app for each country and you wouldn't want to be stuck with China's. Remember that the referral code to use as you register is 400029780
How to get your referral code? I couldn't take a screenshot because of the bank app's security policies. On the app, you'll find a 3 horizontal line button positioned similar to the below photo. Click on it, and at the foot of the page, you'll find the option to refer friends and family.
You can see the announcement on the standard chartered official website:
